We take care of all pets, big and small, so whether you need a pet sitter to care for your cat whilst you’re on holiday, or a trusted individual to visit your new puppy throughout the day – we’ve got you covered. We believe that finding a reliable and professional pet carer should be easy, so we offer our services 7 days a week.
We Love Pets also understands that trusting a stranger to care for your pet for the first time can be quite daunting, but rest assured that every member of our We Love Pets team is a highly-experienced animal lover, personally vetted and trained by us. Animals are our passion, and we’re committed to caring for your pets just as we would our own. We take the time to get to know you and your pet to get a thorough understanding of their individual needs, and develop a fun and healthy relationship with you both!
The We Love Pets brand is nationally known, but each branch is locally owned, so there will always be a dog walker or pet sitter available in your community. You can rely on us! We’d love to hear from you, feel free to get in touch through the enquiry form below.
Meet Helen Goggin | We Love Pets Southport and West Lancs
Our We Love Pets Southport & West Lancashire branch is led by animal lover, Helen Goggin. Helen left the corporate world to pursue her dream of working with animals, and hasn’t looked back since!
Helen is a City & Guilds qualified dog walker, and loves getting out for walks in the lovely coastal area of Southport. Her team of pet care professionals are all fully insured, police checked, pet first aid trained, and experienced in animal behaviour. Read more about Helen
While working in a fast-paced, high-flying sales role, Helen started to feel that her mental health was suffering – and she needed to reprioritise. After experiencing the loss of a loved one, and a significant health scare, she took a leap of faith, quit her day job, and launched her We Love Pets branch.
Helen says it is “the best decision [she] could have made,” and she “genuinely believes that working with animals has helped improve [her] physical and mental health.” Now Helen uses her business to provide top quality pet care in her area, and as a platform to spread awareness on the benefits of animal companionship and mental health.
Southport and West Lancs pet care services
Our dog walker service runs throughout the day, 7 days a week. Your dog will be walked in a safe open space and will return home, happy and tired. We also provide fresh water, treats and will towel your dog off in wet weather.
More about our dog walkers
Our dog walkers aim to make each walk the highlight of your dog’s day, giving them a chance to play, socialise, exercise and explore new sights and smells.
Your dog’s safety is always our top priority which is why we never walk large groups of dogs at one time.
We want your dog to experience a fun-filled walk whilst under constant supervision, without being bombarded by lots of big dogs!
We’ll match your dog with a doggie friend who is suitable in age, size and playability.
Our fully trained, trusted dog walkers are experts at tailoring each walk to your dog’s individual needs and will reinforce any training or routines that you already have in place.
Pet sitting allows you to go away happy with the knowledge that your pets will be well looked after at home where they are comfortable. We'll spend time with your pet, make a fuss, feed and water them, plus clear up any mess.
More about pet sitting
All of our pet sitters are professionally trained, vetted by us personally and background checked. They are also pet first aid trained and fully insured.
We look after dogs, cats, horses, ponies, small animals and birds. Don’t worry if you have more than one pet – the more the merrier! Before you book, we will visit you to talk through your animal care routine and ensure we stick to your normal pet care practice.
If you can’t bear the idea of leaving your dog in kennels when you go away on holiday, then our home-from-home dog boarding service offers the comforts and fuss of a dog lover’s home that’s as good as your own!
More about home boarding
Your dog will be thoroughly pampered and welcomed into a trusted pet sitter’s home as part of the family, with your dog’s diet and daily routine maintained throughout your dog’s stay.
When you’re going away on holiday, the last thing you want to worry about is whether your dog is safe and happy without you.
How does dog home boarding work?
While you’re away, your dog will be going on a lovely holiday of their own! They will become part of the family and enjoy walks and plenty of individual attention. Dog boarding is perfect for dogs who get on with other dogs and people.
We Love Pets boarders are not just dog sitters – our aim is to fully integrate your dog into the life of our family during their time with us.
For your peace of mind, our home pet boarders are:
- Experienced dog owners
- Licensed by the local authority
- Fully insured
- Police checked
- Trained in canine first aid
Our dog sitters provide company and toilet breaks for your dog when you're unable to pop home and let them out. Perfect if you work long shifts, or if your dog needs medication, frequent feeding or regular trips to the garden.
More about pet visits
Whether you have an older dog that needs medication or a younger dog requiring frequent feeding, our dog visits take care of everything your dog could need, even if that’s just simply spending time with them until you get home.
When you need to be out all day or stay late at work, we can pop in to feed your dog, provide fresh water, a toilet break and settle them down for the evening.
House sitting allows you to go away happy knowing your pets will be well looked after where they are comfortable. Your We Love Pets house sitter will be there to look after your pet 24/7, as well as to look after your home as if you were there.
More about house sitting
We Love Pets house sitters are local and friendly, love animals, are dedicated and extremely reliable.
Our house sitters are police checked and fully insured for your peace of mind.
You will have met your house sitter before you go away to make sure we completely understand your needs and you trust us to stay in your home. You’ll also get frequent updates on how your pets are doing.
We can help you get through those first few weeks and months after a puppy arrives, so that you can go to work without worrying. We'll make frequent visits for regular feeding, cleaning, toilet breaks and lots of fun!
More about puppy care
Bringing a new puppy into the home is an exciting time! We understand that when you go back to work it is important that your puppy has as normal a routine as possible.
We Love Pets can help by providing daily visits to help take care of your puppy without the worry of leaving them alone all day. We will visit your puppy at times agreed with you and provide updates throughout the day (if required!).
and we offer so much more…
Why choose We Love Pets?
We never pack walk!
Pack walking is when a large group of dogs are walked together at the same time. This is not safe for dogs, walkers or the general public who run into them. We'll never pack walk your dog, which means they get more time out and about enjoying their walk than stuck in a van travelling to collect other dogs.
We've got high professional standards
- We're all pet first aid trained
- Nobody is hired without a DBS check
- All walkers have full insurance
- Home boarders have licences from their council

Why we love West Lancashire
Our favourite places to take dogs in Southport and West Lancashire
A local staple, taking a stroll down the Southport pier is a must do! It’s the oldest iron pier in the UK, and boasts magnificent seaside views. Feeling peckish? The Pier Pavillion offers food and drink, and is pup friendly too.
Just to the northwest of Southport proper, the Churchtown Botanic Gardens are an idyllic place to walk, and dogs on leads are welcome! With an adventure playground, mini golf course and grassy picnic areas, it’s perfect for a family outing.
We also like to stop and sniff the roses in Hesketh Park, a picturesque Victorian park with specialised gardens and ornate fountains, it’s one of Southport’s finest gems!
For sweeping coastal views and multiple length variations, we recommend walking the Sefton Coastal Path. The path passes through a handful of nature reserves, so be sure to look out for local wildlife along the way.
If you and your furry walking companion enjoy something a bit more challenging, the Cheshire Lines Path that forms part of the Trans Pennine Trail is quintessential. Following the trackbed of the old Cheshire Lines Railway, this trail passes through some of the finest coastal countryside.
In the mood for a sandy excursion? Head south to Ainsdale beach, where there are designated dog friendly areas that you and your pooch can enjoy together! We love exercising our WLP dogs here on a sunny day.
