Meet Jo – We Love Pets Trowbridge

There’s a common theme running through the calls we initially receive from potential new franchisees, stress! People usually decide to make a change in their work when things just get too much and it has an impact on everything else.

It’s not easy to walk away from an office job, where you feel there’s security and familiarity, but we’re seeing it more and more often with people taking control of their lives and health and choosing a franchise with We Love Pets, with ten years of success we enjoy making others’ lives easier.

Jo was no exception, and we’re just a little bit excited to be able to offer We Love Pets services in another part of Wiltshire. This time we’re opening in Trowbridge to offer dog walking and pet sitting services to people in and around Trowbridge, Bradford on Avon, Hilperton Marsh, Holt, North Bradley, Remington, Southwick and the surrounding villages.

With a background in local government and a career largely centred around the care of others, Jo was keen to move her career into something that catered for her own enjoyment.

‘I have always wanted to work with animals but have never thought I would be able to earn enough to live comfortably. I get so much joy from caring for our own pets, spending time with them and ensuring their needs are met it felt like a wild dream that I could actually run a business and make a living doing something like that.

That’s why I jumped at the chance of running my own pet care business with We Love Pets, the hard work has been done with their ten years of success running franchises up and down the country, I’m excited to be part of their success.’

Will you be running the business alone?

My husband, Mark, will be my business partner to support me behind the scenes. Day to day he also is an electrician, so he’s going to be very busy!

How will your previous roles help you as a business owner?

I have excellent people skills and people feel at ease in my company quite quickly, which will be of enormous benefit to all customers. I am also an experienced manager so the skills and training I have developed will transfer to my business well, especially when I expand my team and recruit people locally.

What is your experience with animals?

Well, I have successfully bred Chinchillas! At times caring for around 20 including their newborns.

Dogs have been part of my life since I was a child, mainly larger breeds such as Alsatians, Rottweilers, Lurchers and Springer Spaniels. I’ve enjoyed caring for dogs of all ages and from all background, including some with behavioural issues, which I have enjoyed resolving if anything for the benefit of the dog.

I have cared for animals in old age and in poor health, including smaller animals such as guinea pigs and rabbits. So, my experience is vast and I can’t wait to meet more and more animals!

Jo will be offering dog walking, dog home boarding and pet sitting services in Trowbridge.
