Be a host family
It’s the best of both worlds
Why join us?
Because we’re the best at what we do! Our host families love working for us because we offer a way for you to spend time with dogs you love without the commitment of owning one. We take care of the licensing, insurance and bookings so you can focus on the best bit – caring for lovely dogs looking for a home from home while their owners are away.
We’ve got years of experience taking care of other people’s pets. We’re fully licenced, insured and DBS check all of our staff. Our customers choose us because of our reputation for quality care and safety.
If you’re looking for a great alternative to owning a dog and an excuse to get out for regular exercise with the support of an established and regulated business behind you then join We Love Pets!

What will I do?
You’ll look after one dog or two dogs at a time while their owner is on holiday. It’s important to welcome the dogs into your family and home and give them lots of cuddles and walks. You’ll keep in touch with your local branch manager so they can provide support. We will handle the admin side of things such as your licence, insurance and taking bookings.
If you have a welcoming dog-friendly home, a secure garden and time to spare, you could join our team of amazing dog home boarders.
What do I get?
Cuddles and play time with dogs without having to commit to owning one full time. Being a host family offers the best of both worlds! Being part of We Love Pets means you’ll join a pet-loving family and be part of a caring and supportive nationwide network.
We really value our team and offer lots of training and development opportunities, both within your local branch and online via our training portal, We Love Training. You’ll also get your expenses paid, a personal performance plan and enrollment on our PAWs skills-based reward system.

Case studies of network boarders
We Love Pets Dursley boarders, Peter & Irene, became a host family when their retirement travel plans were put on hold. They had always wanted a dog of their own, but didn’t have the time while working and raising a family. Now, they enjoy the company of many dogs without the responsiblity of ownership! Read more about their experience in the blog below.
Work from home
From the We Love Pets Salisbury branch, Sue and her partner enjoy the flexibility that boarding offers. Although Sue claimes to be “basically retired,” she still dabbles in work that she can do from home, and loves the canine companionship she has alongside it. Read more about Sue’s day-to-day in the blog below.
Looking for something to work around your lifestyle? Boarding can work around your life. Tracey and Stephen are a host family from the Wigan branch, and they live with opposite work schedules. Tracey loves having dogs around to keep her company during the day while Stephen’s asleep! Find out more about how it works for them in the blog below.
Wondering if boarding would work with your family dynamic? Julie and her family enjoy adding furry friends to their home at the weekends, as boarders for the We Love Pets Reading branch. And their labradoodle, Coco, loves her new playmates! Learn more about how it works for Julie in the blog below.
“When I got my license it really gave me a sense of purpose to be able to give customers the peace of mind that their dog was in a family home and it’s as happy as it can be. It’s really satisfying. They’ve almost become part of the family as we spend lots of time together, and I love the daily walks and making the most of being outdoors on the fresh air.”
“I love how I can do all of my day-to-day tasks while I host, and the dogs sit in with me. If I need to work from home, I have the flexibility to do so, and still enjoy their companionship. And I absolutely love getting a return dog that jumps for joy when they see me!”
