Yasmin is a familiar face for many We Love Pets customers as she worked with our Reading West branch as a dog walker for a year while studying at the University of Reading.
Working alongside Amy, Yasmin was able to see first hand what running a We Love Pets franchise is like.
‘I helped to finance my studies with dog walking for the Reading West branch. Being with super friendly, lovable, cuddly dogs for hours each week felt more like a hobby than a job. Thanks to Amy, I already know the ins and outs of the job and how rewarding it can be.’
Have you always wanted to work with animals?
When I was very young I decided I was going to be a Vet, so working with animals has been my ideal job for quite a few years. Four years ago, I made the decision to go to University to study BSC Zoology. The course has met all of my expectations, I’ve learnt so much, including animal behaviour, life histories, welfare and much more.
I have worked at The Living Rainforest where I was a volunteer animal keeper and had to follow strict health and safety guidelines and practices to ensure the safety of the animals, colleagues and members of the public at all times. I was able to work with exotic mammals, reptiles and amphibians and learn basic husbandry procedures, which will be another asset in my new venture. More recently I have worked at The Blue Cross as a volunteer cat carer.
My passion now lies with putting all that knowledge to good use and what better way than to continue with We Love Pets but this time as a branch owner!
Will the branch be run solely by you, or will there be a partner?
Just me, although Django will be with me a lot of the time. He’s a Miniature Dachshund! He can be a little loud at first but after a good sniff he is quick to run and play with other dogs. Django will stay at home on the days I am walking a couple of dogs, as We Love Pets are proud to have a no pack walking policy, which I am so pleased about. It will allow me to give lots of attention to each dog and make sure they’re all safe.

Yasmin will be offering dog walking, pet sitting and dog boarding in Bexhill-on-Sea and Hastings.
