Dog grooming service

New dog grooming service coming soon

We are delighted to offer a new dog grooming service with our first salon opening at Trowbridge on Monday 29th June 2020! We’re expecting huge demand for our dog grooming service coming out of lockdown, particularly as our customers return to work and can have their dog walked and groomed hassle free by our friendly team at Trowbridge. It’s the perfect package for busy dog owners!

Getting the salon business at Trowbridge ready has been a family affair with branch owner Jo’s husband Mark using his skills as a qualified electrician to convert the back garden into a purpose-built salon with all the latest equipment and Jo’s niece Cara training with City & Guilds to become a Level 3 qualified dog groomer.

Cara’s hairdressing background and love of dogs helped Jo realise her dream of owning a dog grooming salon, as she explains: “It definitely helps that my niece already has hairdressing skills. When we asked if she would be interested in a change of direction to work with us as a dog groomer, as a massive dog lover, she jumped at the chance. We knew it would be a dream combination of her creative and caring manner with our successful and established pet care business in the area.”

Salon treatments

The salon offers a wide range of services for dogs of any breed, size, and coat. Pampered pooches can indulge in a Honey and Oatmeal MassageFacial or Fresh Breath treatments. Perks of the service

One of biggest advantages if your dog already walks at We Love Pets Trowbridge is that you’ll get an exclusive walk and groom service: “So if you are out at work during the day then your dog’s allocated walker will take your dog out as usual and bring them to the salon afterwards for their treatment. We will return them home to you freshly groomed and walked. You come home from work to a happy, pampered pup. What could be better?” says Jo.

The walk and groom service is for boarders and day care clients too. If your dog boards with us and you want to collect them smelling and looking beautiful, we can schedule their treatment in towards the end of their stay. This gives you one less things to worry about and a very contented pup to come home to.

If you have limited time or who would rather not make the trip to collect your dog, we offer a pick up and drop off service for a small fee.

Lockdown and grooming

Like all businesses impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic, we have had to adapt to adhere to social distancing guidelines. With a strict hygiene policy and the appropriate PPE in place, our dog grooming salon is able to service dogs with minimal risk. Dogs are handed over outside and our own leads and collars are put on for use during the treatments.

Whilst us humans might have attempted to trim our own dishevelled hairdos during lockdown, for a dog, grooming is essential, not only for their physical condition but for their health too. It is very important to use a professionally trained groomer as so many things can go wrong when you try to do this yourself. The scissors and trimmers you use are sharp and if your dog jumps or moves you could seriously injure them.

Some breeds have hair which is more likely to matt and only a professional should treat this issue because it can be a very painful and stressful experience to de-matt a dog if you don’t know what you are doing.

Until you can get your dog to the salon, our advice is to ensure that you are regularly brushing them and not attempting to use scissors or clippers unless you are professionally trained to do so. By brushing regularly you will make the grooming experience in the salon much more enjoyable for your dog.
