Shrove Tuesday is just around the corner and many of us are looking forward to our pancakes. With a huge variety of recipes, why not put your cooking skills to the test and let your pets join in. There are plenty of flavours they will approve of and they are so simple to make.

Banana and Peanut Butter

  • 1 Banana
  • 1 Egg
  • 3 ½ tablespoons peanut butter
  • Drop of cooking oil

Simply blend the ingredients until you have a smooth batter and then fry small spoonful’s of batter in the pan for 2-3 minutes on each side. Before serving to your pet, ensure the pancake had cooled down.

Cottage Cheese and Spinach

  • 200g buckwheat flour
  • 500ml milk
  • 2 Eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 100g cottage cheese
  • 100g spinach leaved

Place the flour into a bowl, make a well in the centre and pour in the milk and eggs. Then whisk together and place in the fridge for 20 mins. Next, you should heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan and pour in enough batter to cover the base. These delicious pancakes only need to be cooked for 30 seconds to 1 minute on each side. Once cooked, top the pancakes with cottage cheese followed by the spinach leaves.

Potato Pancake

  • 3 medium potatoes
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Sour cream or cottage cheese

First boil the potatoes with their skins left on for around 30 minutes. Once ready, mash the potatoes and mix in the egg yolks and milk until the mixture is smooth. Then beat the egg whites until stiff and fold into the potato mixture. Next, heat the butter in a frying pan, add a spoonful of the mixture and flatten with a spoon or spatula. Allow the pancakes to cook until brown on each side and then serve with a little cottage cheese or sour cream.
