Spooky season is officially upon us, and there’s no better way to get in the Halloween spirit than by dressing up – so why not make it a couple’s affair and get your dog involved too?

Has your pup got big eyes, teeth, or ears? Then they’ve got the job! Dress in red with your dog at your side – bonus points for a wolfish howl.

Although we definitely don’t condone Cruella’s behaviour, we’ve got to admit – she has style. Don your nicest fur coat and bring your pooch along, whether they’ve got spots or not!

Die-hard Star Wars fans will get a kick out of this costume idea! Han’s vest is a must have accessory, and scruffy dogs will pass perfectly for Chewbacca (but any canine bestie will do!).

Dressing with your pet can be lots of fun! However, costumes aren’t right for every dog. Always check to see if a costume fits properly before wearing it out and try it on at home to determine whether it might be uncomfortable or induce anxiety in your pet. We recommend not putting your dog in a costume unless they’re 100% happy and stress-free!
Halloween Hazards
It’s important to remember that while holiday festivities are really fun for us, they might be stressful or dangerous for our pets. Here are some things to keep in mind around Halloween.
Only a few days ahead of Bonfire Night, it’s not uncommon for people to set off fireworks on Halloween. To avoid extra distress for your dog, try these tips:
- Walk your dog during daylight hours, making sure they have an opportunity to use the bathroom before any fireworks might go off.
- Close windows and curtains to muffle the sounds of fireworks.
- Put on some background music or a soothing TV program to mask the sounds outdoors.
- Create a quiet, comfortable space where your dog can go to rest and relax.
Keep trick or treat sweets out of your dog’s reach! Chocolates and candies can be extremely harmful and often toxic for dogs, so make sure they’re kept out of harm’s way.
- Wrappers and strings on sweets could cause blockages and require medical assistance
- Chocolate is poisonous to dogs and may be fatal if ingested unnoticed.
- Other sweets can be toxic, especially if they have raisins or nuts – so best to avoid them all!
